Speaker(s): New Rotarians
Novella Froman was born and reared on Beaver Creek and attended Wayland High School. She is married to Mike Froman, who is an instructor for the Big Sandy Community College Vocational School System. She attended Eastern Kentucky University where she obtained a degree in Education and went on to teach for a few years. Then she was given an opportunity to work as the UK Extension Agent for 4-H and has occupied that position for many years. She says that there are about 2700 students in Pike County that are involved in 4-H. She just returned from the 4-H summer camp which was held on the campus of Levi Jackson State Park, where over 140 children enjoyed a week of crafts, games, and classes. Novella says that she is grateful for the opportunity to serve her community in Rotary and looks forward to helping with all the projects to help others.
Jennifer Brown is a native of Paintsville, Kentucky and attended Georgetown College, where she earned her degree in Business Marketing. During her business internship, she held a position as a member of the security detail of the Cincinnati Bengals training camp at Georgetown. After graduation, she worked as an insurance agent and later joined Redd, Brown, and Williams Realty firm. Since starting to work there, she has moved to Pikeville, where she has just bought a house for herself and her dog. She says that Rotary has always appealed to her as an organization that really cared about helping the community and wanted to join to give back for all the things she has been blessed to have in life.
Misty Daniels is a lifelong native of Pikeville and attended Pikeville High School and the University of Kentucky, earning a degree in Secondary English Education. She has spent most of her life in the performing arts and singing. Even as a child of 8 years old, she entered the 4-H talent division and performed at the Jenny Wiley Theater. Since that time, she has traveled extensively all over the Eastern U.S. and even spent some time in New York City. Later she worked briefly for Churchill Downs in Louisville, but knew she always wanted to return to her hometown. She is now the Physician recruiter at Pikeville Medical Center, where she says she is still an ambassador for the community, trying to help doctors to see what a wonderful place Pikeville is to live and work. Rotary, says Misty, is the perfect organization where she can serve the people of her community and the world at the same time by making their lives better.
Rosalyn Stanley was born in Williamson, W.Va., and attended Belfry High School and EKU.
She has been married for 31 years and has a 20 year-old daughter who is a junior at UK with a GPA of 4.0. Rosalyn spent more than 20 years as a correspondent in the newspaper business and has worked for the past 9 years with the Pike County School System. She said that she loved working in the daily news business, but has an equal passion for the work she does now for the children of Pike County Schools. She says that, like the other new Rotarians, she wanted to join Rotary so that she could make community service a part of her life in addition to her career.
Lets all make these new Rotarians feel welcome as an integral part of our club. - JMC
